The following information is from the Travel Berkeley Springs office:
In Berkeley Springs at this time of year,
green vibrates and fills the eye as you twist and turn along ridges and hollows
throughout the county. While it would be easy to spend the whole weekend
admiring Mother Nature's splendor, we do have other activities to offer as
well.
After a successful opening weekend, the Ice House
Theater Project's production of Oscar Wilde's "Importance of Being Earnest"
stages four more shows beginning with Thursday at 7pm. Friday and Saturday the
shows are at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3pm. Call for reservations (304-258-2300) --
the second weekend of plays at the Ice House is usually sold out.
It's also the final weekend for the Civil War gallery show, "Valor in
the Valley" with a special chance to win a "Gods and Generals" movie
poster Autographed by ROBERT DUVALL (Robert E. Lee), STEPHEN LANG (Stonewall
Jackson), and JEFF SHAARA (author.) Buy a chance -- the lucky winner's name will
be drawn at close of the show on May 2nd.
Also on exhibit is a rare
collection of eyewitness sketches by David Hunter Strother of John Brown's trial
and hanging. The Ice House Gallery is open Saturday and
Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
Shifting to the big screen, the Star Theatre is
showing Tim Burton's original film of Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp.
Showtimes are Friday through Sunday at 8pm with a Sunday matinee at 2pm. Don't
forget to try the world class popcorn.
Come early for local music
entertainment with Jim Fredo hosting the Thursday Jam Nite at Tari's Cafe.
Starting at 8pm, there are special appetizers and prime rib on the menu. For an
international experience on Saturday at 8pm check out both the Fairfax Coffee House presenting the
Irish sound of Garryowen, a trio that includes local musician Dennis Vaughan and
County Limerick fiddler, Neil Foley and La Luna Wine Bar and Gallery
for Brazilian Guitarist Gregorio Lacerda.
There's a long list of
special treats one can have only in Berkeley Springs.
Saturday Noon to 4pm you can check your future with mini-readings at the Star Theatre with
Joyce Morningstar -- cards and Jeanne Mozier -- astrology, cards and runes. Sign
up that day on the door of the Star, or email star@starwv.com.
Shopping is one of them
and includes more than a dozen unique shops along charming streets of the
historic town. Shops having special offers include the RAG Shop with Thrifty
Thursday's $1 all clothing and Frugal Friday where one item is half off.
Vintage Kitchen has a weekend attic sale on Friday and
Saturday. There's a jewelry and candle show at St. Vincent de Paul church hall
on Saturday from 9-4. On Sunday, the shopping moves outside with the Berkeley Springs Farmers
Market set up in the square on Sunday from 10am to 2pm. Art in
the Park runs on Sunday also from 10am to 4pm in Berkeley Springs State
Park.
Spas are a prime reason why
folks have been coming to Berkeley Springs for centuries. Try
one. Try two. Try all the ones available from the historic Roman Baths to
state of the art scrubs, rubs and massages at places like Atasia Spa and the Country Inn's Five Senses
Spa. With the weather getting warmer, lots of folks will be satisfied
experiencing the healing waters of the springs in open pools and channels in the
park.

something special. Thursday is for smoked ribs at Mountainside. Friday brings prime

of all with brunch available at the Country Inn, at Temptations and at Panorama. Ambrae

half-off appetizers ranging from bhang bhang shrimp to smoked trout dip. There
is always fine dining on the menu at Lot 12
